Learn more about the fantastic young people's projects bidding for Christchurch Soup funding

Updated: Oct 18

Eight local organisations will pitch for funding at the Christchurch Soup on 21 October, showcasing some fantastic initiatives to support local children and young people.

The organisations pitching at this year's event are:

  • The Priory CE Primary School The school's Eco Team are passionate about making the world a greener place and would use the money to create a recycling centre at the school.

  • St Joseph's Catholic Primary School The school would like to create a welcoming outdoor library which will provide a dedicated space for pupils and their parents to come together and explore books, fostering a shared love of reading.

  • Somerford Youth and Community Centre The group will be pitching for funding to get their new Youth Council off the ground, with the aim of making youth participation as fun as possible, and running a film club for young people.

  • My Time Young Carers Local young carers, sometimes as young as 5, selflessly look after their relatives. My Time would like funding towards the cost of 50 Christmas Gift Bags for the young carers they support in our Christchurch schools.

  • Christchurch Music Centre The centre has expanded to include many more young people through their regular 'playdays' and would like additional instruments to accommodate that growth.

  • Mudeford Girl Guides Raising money for TUT (Tart Up Tutton), a project to spruce up the historic Tutton's Well and spring, by planting bulbs along the hedge to encourage bees and butterflies, and landscaping the area around the spring.

  • University Hospitals Dorset Charity

The Charity team will share more about The BEACH Appeal, a fundraising initiative for additional items for the new BEACH Building at University Hospitals Dorset. This includes extra technology for a new hospital classroom to enhance care and education for young patients.

  • Untapped Art Therapy Untapped are raising money to provide an Art Therapy Group for vulnerable young people who are unable to attend mainstream school due to anxiety, trauma, or no provision to meet their special educational needs.
